Blog Post #5

The first web text, Dove Campaign for Real Beauty by Sara is very appealing to any audience. Even though it is intended to girls, it, overall, demonstrates that society’s perception of beauty is distorted by ads and corporations. Her texts make a great case for this. I enjoyed this one very much. I like how she organized it in a way that’s simple. You just click on the picture and BAMM! you are there. I found each text contributed to the larger picture and they all connected flawlessly.

The web text Life-Based Web Comics by Ariel was very different from the Dove campaign. First off, it required a lot of reading and you could not click on the images to look at them yourself. I did like the overall set up. The fact that it was talking cartons was very creative. I understood the approach but did not get the overall context of the web text. I did, however, like the way she organized her text in a sliding window. That gives me the idea to use a similar approach.

I plan to organize me web text with a large picture of Obama in the middle spread out like Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man. In each limp I plan on putting different clickable text. And then describe each one once you click on the text sort of like Dove Campaign for Real Beauty.
